This common American plant is allied to the uva ursi, in botanical as well as medical qualities. It is tonic and diuretic. The bruised leaves irritate the skin. From the decoction or infusion an agree-able beverage may be formed by adding sugar. ginger to flavour it, and yeast to produce fermentation. Under the name Pipsissewa Beer it hat been used in scrofulous affections.
