Are three in number; and arise from the inferior part of the spheno-palatine ganglion. 1. The great palatine, Palatin inferieur (Ch.), is situate anteriorly to the two others, and descends into the posterior palatine canal; gives a nasal filament and a staphyline filament, and is distributed on the palate. 2. The middle palatine, Guttural (Ch.), which arises behind the preceding, enters one of the accessory palatine canals, and is distributed to the tonsils and velum palati. 3. The little palatine nerve, situate still more backward than the last, which loses itself by several filaments in the uvula, tonsils, and follicles of the palatine membrane.
