-
A modified nucleoprotein, obtained by peptin digestion or by treatment with dilute acids. Its actions and uses are similar to those of nucleic acid and nucleates. It is said to increase the number of white blood corpuscles in the blood, and thereby increase its resistance to infection, but its exact value has not been demonstrated. The term n. has been erroneously used for impure nucleic acid and for nucleates.
