A Canadian priest and naturalist; born in Becancour, P. Q., March 10, 1820. In 1869 he retired from the ministry, and devoted himself to literary work and the study of natural history. He established Le Naturalist Canadien in 1868, and received the degree of D. Sc. in 1880. His publications include: "Elementary Treatise on Botany" (1858); "Canadian Plant Life" (1865); "From Quebec to Jerusalem" (1882); and "Short History of Canada" (1887).
