A small, round organ, situate at the upper part of the vulva, and separated by a small space from the anterior commissure of the labia. Its base is surrounded by a slight fold, similar to the prepuce; and it is, internally, of the same structure as the corpora cavernosa penis. The artery of the clitoris, (F.) A. Clitorienne ou Clitoridienne, is a branch of the internal pudic. The rein communicates with the internal pudic, and the nerve with the pudic.

A small erectile organ situated in the vulva, near its anterior commissure; the analogue of the penis, which it resembles in being attached by crura to the ischia and in having a prepuce. In all animals the clitoris is imperforate, except in the Lemuridae, in which it is traversed by the urethra. [Gr.]
