A Danish novelist; born 1827. Besides translating a number of works from the French and German, he wrote "From Hellas" (1881), five stories that were a new departure in Danish literature,- being attempts to reproduce Greek culture as Ebers did Egyptian,- and were translated into several languages; "The Last Lamia" (1884); "The Potentate of Rhodes" (1885); "Sybaris", a drama; "A Marriage in the Catacombs" (1893); etc.
