(1802-1894,) was provisional Governor of Hungary during the Hungarian war for independence in 1848 and 1849. Exiled, he visited the United States from 1851 to 1852, and attempted to arouse the American people to support the cause of Hungary. The U. S. Government refused to interfere in the affairs of European powers. His eloquence aroused great enthusiasm.
