Orchite. Swelling and inflammation of the testicle is a common sympton of gonorrhoea, (F.)Chaudepisse tombec dans les Bourses; but it may arise from external injuries, or from other causes. It is a disease which cannot be mistaken, and the treatment must obviously be strongly antiphlogistic, supporting the testicle during the treatment, and for some time afterwards: methodical compression has also been found useful. The disease is not generally of a serious character, going off as suddenly as it comes on. As it affects the epididymis more especially, when supervening on gonorrhoea or blennorrhoea, it is sometimes termed blenorrhagic epididymitis.
