An American lawyer, physician, journalist, and miscellaneous writer; born in Pennsylvania, 1844. Making the tour of the world in 1880-81 and 1884-85, he entered Corea before that country had made treaties with other nations. He wrote: "Zomara, a Romance of Spain" (1873); "The City of the Royal Palm and Other Poems" (1884); "Fact and Fancy in New Zealand" (1885). Died 1905.
