One of the modern forms of the ancient Roman b. The bather passes through gradually increasing temperatures, accompanied by massage, until he reaches 176o F., where he sweats profusely. After this he passes through gradually decreasing temperatures, accompanied with douching and rubbing until 70o F. is reached, when he is dried and reclines for a time on a couch.
