An American journalist and miscellaneous writer; born on Long Island in 1834; died in 1891. He was settled in New York, and afterwards in San Francisco. He wrote: "The Swamp Angel"; "Life by Land and Sea"; "Your Forces, and How to Use Them" (2 vols., 1888).
