(1754-1844), served in the Continental army from 1776 to 1783, commanding at Stone Arabia and Crown Point. He was Chief Justice of New York from 1801 to 1804 and Governor from 1804 to 1807. He was a major-general in the Niagara campaign and commanded at Sackett's Harbor and French Creek.
