(1713-1803), came to America from England in 1735. He was a member of the New York delegation in the first Colonial Congress at New York City in 1765. He was a member of the Continental Congress from 1776 to 1779. He signed the Declaration of Independence and in 1779 was a commissioner of the Board of Admiralty.
