known also as Calvidius Laetus. A French physician and poet; born in Touraine in 1602; died in 1661. He went to Rome, and lived there until after the death of Richelieu. His chief work was "Callipaedia", written in Latin and satirizing Mazarin; but on account of the latter's kindness, the satire was changed to eulogy in a second edition.

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
