An acid which is met with in commerce, in compact, white, heavy, fragile masses; of a vitreous aspect, opake, and covered with a white dust; of an acrid and nauseous taste; without smell when cold; volatilizable by heat, and exhaling the odour of garlic; soluble in water, alcohol, and oil; crystallizable in regular octahedrons. It is this that is meant by the name arsenic, as commonly used.
