Consists in treating a solution of the material to be tested with a fresh solution of sodium nitroprussiate and then adding a trace of caustic soda solution. A transient red solution is obtained, which, if creatinin is present, becomes yellow on standing. Upon boiling with dilute acetic acid Prussian blue is formed.
