An American philanthropist; born in Philadelphia, Dec. 4, 1851. He is the Indians' friend and founder of the Indian Rights Association. Among his writings are: "Four Weeks among Some of the Sioux Tribes of Dakotah"; and "Report of a Visit to the Navajo, Pueblo, and Hualapai Indians of New Mexico and Arizona"; "The Other Man's Country".
