The product of cutaneous transpiration, when visible on the surface of the body. It is colourless; of an odour more or less strong and variable; and of a saline taste. It is composed, according to Berzelius, of water, lactic acid, lactate of soda united with a little animal matter, chloride of sodium, and a little chloride of iron.
