Hermaphroditism in certain plants and lower forms of animal life, in which the individual possesses both male and female organs. It is said to be sufficient when an individual can fecundate itself, and insufficient when the organs are so disposed that a sort of reciprocal conjunction of two individuals is necessary for fecundation.
