An Argentine poet; born in Buenos Ayres, Dec. 5, 1818; died there, Aug. 12, 1871. His principal works are: "The Pilgrim" and "Harmonies", descriptive poems of travels (1856); the dramas "El Cruzado" (1860) and "El Poeta" (1862); and "La Amalia", a historical romance based upon the War of the Roses in England (1866), considered his best work, and which has been translated into French and German.
