A person responsible for the design and management ofone or more databases and for the evaluation, selection andimplementation of database management systems. In smallerorganisations, the data administrator and databaseadministrator are often one in the same; however, when theyare different, the database administrator's function is moretechnical. The database administrator would implement thedatabase software that meets the requirements outlined by theorganisation's data administrator and systems analysts.Tasks might include controling an organisation's dataresources, using data dictionary software to ensure dataintegrity and security, recovering corrupted data andeliminating data redundancy and uses tuning tools to improvedatabase performance.
