An eminent Polish Rabbinical writer; born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1830, and received his education in the Rabbinic college there. He was one of the original members appointed by the English Convocation for the revision of the English version of the Old Testament Scriptures. He is the author of a number of works of vast erudition, among which are: "A Historical and Critical Commentary on the Song of Songs" (1857); "The Kariates" (1862); "The Moabite Stone" (1871); "The Massorah" (1880-86).
