A plant, of the Cape of Good Hope, which, from its smell and taste, seems to contain camphor; hence its antispasmodic virtues. In infusion, it is often beneficially employed in cough, hoarseness, and diseases of the chest generally, and is said to be serviceable in flatulent colic. Infused in spirit, spiritus bellidis, it has been used successfully as an external remedy in paralysis.
