The large ovoid opening in the innominate bone, internal and inferior to the acetabulum. It is closed in by a fibrous membrane, except near its outer and upper edge, where an aperture is left for the passage of the obturator vessels and nerves.

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
