A commercial treaty was concluded between the United States and Nicaragua in 1867 by which Nicaragua grants free transit to the United States in consideration of the guarantee of the neutrality of routes of communication between the Atlantic and Pacific. An extradition convention was concluded in 1870 and a reciprocity treaty in 1892.
