A term especially used of five C. held in the Church of St. John Lateran, at Rome; the last (1215), under Innocent III., established the Roman doctrine of the Eucharist, using the word "transubstantiation." But L. C., with Dr. Hook and others, = "all the Councils of the Roman Church."
