The outer layer, which consists itself of three layers. The most external of them is of longitudinal fibers of connective tissue without elastic fibers; it is continuous above with the corium of the skin. The internal layer is transparent and homogeneous, corresponding to a membrana propria. The middle layer is made up of fibrous matrix composed of transverse connective tissue corpuscles with oblong nuclei. It is continuous with the papillary part of the cutis vera.
