i.e. dent du lion (Bot.) A gen. of Compositae, of which the root-stock is extensively used in medicine as an aperient and tonic, especially in liver complaints. [The word is traced by M. Devic, with some likelihood, to the Ar. tarachaquun, wild chicory (Littre).]
