Bodies found in the nerve papillae of the skin. They are elongated ellipsoids, consisting of a nucleated envelope and a striated central part or core, containing numerous celllike bodies and one or more medullated nerve fibers. The fibers commonly lose their myelin on entering the c, and, after dividing into several branches, which wind in and around the core, terminate in pyriform or globular enlargements.
