A distinguished German pathologist; born at Schievelbein, in Prussia, Oct. 13, 1821. Among his numerous writings are: "Collected Essays on Scientific Medicine" (1856); "Four Discourses on Life and Disease" (1862); "On the Education of Woman for her Calling" (1865); "On Certain Tokens of Lower Human Races in the Cranium" (1875); "Freedom of Science in the Modern State". Died Sept. 5, 1902.
