A German poet; born at Wurzen, Jan. 30, 1719; died at Halberstadt, July 6, 1783. His principal work is "Four Books of Esopic Fables" (1748). His didactic poem "The Right of Reason" (1758), founded on the philosophy of Wolf, is of little value.
