A Norwegian story-teller; born in the parish of Drontheim, June 24, 1843. He is author of a series of stories and novels of Norwegian and Lapp life, with much insight into nature and into the heart of the people. Most notable among them are: "The Finnish Youth" (1873); "The Lion" (1874); "Eda Mansika" (1875); "The Voyager in the Icy Sea"; "Lonely People".
