A German writer of comedies; born at Berlin, Dec. 26, 1792; died at Hamburg, Aug. 22, 1871. Among his comedies are: "The Best Tone"; "Courting according to Prescription"; "Rosenmuller and Finke". He wrote also "Narratives and Stories" (2 vols., 1842-44).
