A South African plant, common amongst the Hottentots, which, in the form of decoction, acts simultaneously as an emetic, cathartic, and diuretic. It is used by the natives in cutaneous diseases, dropsy, and syphilis. The tincture is a powerful emetic and cathartic.-Thunberg.
