Falling off of the hair; loss of the hair. When this is confined to the crown of the head, it is called calvities, although the terms are often used synonymously. When congenital, it is called Atrich'ia seu Alope'cia adna'ta. The falling off of the hair in old age is termed Alope'cia seni'lis.
