The Preserver, the second member of the Hindu Trinity or Trimurti, represented as appearing from time to time in an incarnate form, or avatar, to restore an order of things which has been disturbed.
n. A Hindoo deity, the second of the trimurti or three great gods of creation, and regarded as the preserver, while Brahma is the creator, and Siva the destroyer of life.
