An autointoxication occurring in certain cases of nephritis or in anuria from any cause; it is not known what the toxic agent or agents may be, whether toxic substances normally formed in the body and excreted in the urine or some new substance formed in consequence of the altered metabolism. The symptoms are chiefly nervous-headache, vomiting, dyspnea, insomnia, delirium, convulsions, and coma.
