The publication of this newspaper was begun in Washington in 1826 by Duff Green. Jackson was then President and the U.S. Telegraph was established as the organ of his administration. This journal was afterward suspended, having achieved but little success, and was superseded as official organ in 1830 by the Globe, edited by Francis P. Blair.
