(Music.) An organ stop, stopped or covered at the top, generally of wood, of the same pitch as the open Diapason, but softer in tone, the pipes also being only half the length. See Diapason. The pipe being stopped at the top causes the air to rebound and produce a tone an octave lower than it would otherwise.
