are two in number, and are branches of the crural or femoral nerve. They are the short saphenous- nervus culaneus internus; and the long saphenous- nervus cutanetis internus longus. The external saphenous, formed by the union of the communicans poplitei and communicans peronei, passes down the leg by the side of the external saphenous vein of the foot.
