An American prose-writer; born in West Dedham, Mass., May 4, 1822; died at Providence, May 14, 1899. His published works include: "History of Brown University with Illustrative Documents" (1867); "Chaplain Smith and the Baptists" (1885). He edited "Rhode Island in the Continental Congress, 1765-1790", by Wm. R. Staples, (1870); "Letter of John Cotton, and Roger Williams' Reply" (1866); and "Queries of Highest Consideration", by Roger Williams (1867).
