Jamaica Dogwood. Ord. Leguminosae. A small branching tree, common in most of the West India Islands; Diadelphia Decandria of Linnaeus. It is used in the West Indies to poison fish. It appears to be an acro-narcotic, and has been used in the form of a tincture of the bark of the root in toothache.
