A disease which consists in the excessive multiplication of lice on the human body, under conditions in which it does not ordinarily take place, and in spite of cleanliness. It has been asserted that the affection has often caused death. Simple and medicated baths have been recommended for its removal; lotions of the decoction or infusion of tobacco and stavesacre, mercurial frictions, &c.
