(1810-1860), was pastor of a Unitarian church at West Roxbury, Mass., from 1837 to 1845. In 1845 he established the "Twenty Eighth Congregational Society " in Boston. He was an ardent opponent of all pro-slavery sentiments, and exerted a powerful anti-slavery influence. He was the leader of a new and more practical phase of the Unitarian movement.
