Is a depression observed in the right auricle of the heart, in the septum, which separates it from the left auricle. It has thick and strong edges, at its upper and fore part, called Columnae foraminis ovalis, Isthmus seu Annulus Vieussenii, Annulus seu Limbus fossae ovalis: in the foetus called Aunulus foraminis seu fossae ovalis. The fossa ovalis, in the adult, replaces the inter-auricular aperture in the septum auricularum of the foetus.
