O. Auris, (F.) Osselets de l'oreille ou de l'ouie ou du tympan. The small bones or ossicles situate in the cavity of the tympanum, and forming an uninterrupted chain from the membrane of the tympanum to that of the fenestra ovalis. They are four in number; and their series, from without to within, is as follows: Malleus, Incus, Os orbiculare, Stapes.
