An American publisher and writer; born in New York city, in 1828; died there, May 15, 1890. At an early age he became connected with the publishing business in New York. Among his books are: "Romance of the Revolution" (1852); "A Bachelor's Story" (1859); "Don't: a Manual of Mistakes and Improprieties" (1883); "My House" (1884); and "Adventures of Timias Terrystone", a novel (1885).
