An Italian poet (1674-1735). He wrote a comicosatirical epic "Ricciardetto" (1737), in which he, a canon of Santa Maria Maggiore and secretary of the Propaganda, lashes the vices of the clergy: it revived the ironic romantic spirit of Ariosto with admirable taste.
