An American author and journalist; born in Ross township, Ohio, Sept. 2, 1829. He served on the editorial staff of several newspapers and went to the Philippines as special correspondent during the war with Spain. Among his works are "The Story of Cuba", "Life of William McKinley", "Our Country in War", "The Great Century", "The Boer and the British War". Died 1908.
