An American novelist; born at Simsbury, Conn., in 1856. She was educated at South Hadley Seminary, and for several years taught school in Plymouth, Mass. Her best-known novel is "Cape Cod Folks" (1881). Among her other works are: "Towhead, the Story of a Girl" (1884); "Lastchance Junction"; "Power Lot" (1006).
